Last night Uncle Keoni made his weekly phone call to his favorite niece. For years now she has been referring to him as either Uncle Bat or Uncle Koni. However while she was chatting away on the telephone, showing him her new tricks (hasn't figured out yet that he can't see her on the phone!), she carefully slowed down to finally pronounce his name correctly!! Then this morning, since she had Uncle on the brain, she was saying 'Keoni' with such ease you would never know the nicknames she had developed for him.
We've also noticed recently that she can say, 'Lola' instead of 'Wo-wuh' and 'Kili' instead of 'Kiwi'! It's very exciting to see her be able to correct her speech all on her own. And being the sappy Mom that I am, it's just another sign that my baby is growing up. *sigh*
Last week Sunday we ALL had a wonderful day celebrating Father's Day. It was Laya's special day and his only request was Portugese sausage, eggs, and rice. Since it was a holiday, he felt he'd allow himself to have "real" food (as opposed to his typical protein shake & 7-grain hot cereal).
God certainly hand picked Laya to be the best Daddy for Kili. She is by far the apple of his eye.
These two have such a treasured relationship. To see how they interact with each other is nothing short of beautiful. At times I can't help but become overwhelmed with joy when I see how good he is with her. For those who know him, know he does NOT like to dance. But he dances....with her. Soooo sweet!! I must remember to video tape them together!
My mom shared with Laya the song, Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLYxtuC0oRk She said that it reminded her of Laya, and I couldn't agree more. What a blessing!
Yes, I know I am in denial. I suppose this will happen every year around this time. I will always want her to stay my little baby. I can't help it. The cliche is all too true, time really does fly by too fast. And because she will be turning the "big" three in nearly a month, the "old" photos are coming out. Here are some things I've worked on for my own special therapy...lol! Enjoy!
Two of my Uncles recently celebrated back to back bithdays. Uncle Dak's birthday is on June 8th, and Uncle Micah's is on June 9th. I miss them both sooo much!!! Most of all, I really wished I could have shared cupcakes with them on their special day. :) Here are a couple pictures my Mommy found that I hope you'll enjoy. You can really see how much I really love these guys. I'm very lucky to have them as my Uncles...love your Kili.
Here are a few shots from the day Kili actually wanted me to take pictures! It was soooo nice to actually have her cooperate for a change. :)
She wanted to race in the backyard first. For some reason, this is her "get ready, on your mark, get set, go position"...not quite ideal for speed! lol! Although, I have to say, I do love her game face.
pump those legs girl!
In true Kili-form, she must explain some type of instruction to me.
trying to work the pedals on her bi-KISS-cle (that's what she calls it)
And how could she NOT be caught accessorizing at some point. Papa & Granny, don't you think she looks like a taiko drummer? ha ha!
Kili: Mommy!! You wanna come outside with me?!!
Brooke: Sure
Kili: Wanna take pictures of me today?!
Brooke: Of course I do! That would be great!
Kili: Okay okay! I will be right down!! Hang on! I'll be right there!!
Brooke: I'll wait for you!
Kili: I'm coming!! I'm coming!! I'm ready...everybody ready to come outside??!! Ready to go get some vitamin D??
I better head out there now...just had to document this momentous request! She actually wants me to take photos...hurray hurray!!! Stay tuned folks! Happy Sunday!!
this dear couple (on the RIGHT) made a vow to spend the rest of their lives together. All they had was $200 and a used VW vehicle. If you ever have the honor of hearing their love story, you would be blessed. May we all learn from their beautiful relationship and strive to love one another with the upmost respect that they have shown for each other over the many many years. My sweet in-laws cherish what marriage is all about, I pray that we shall follow in their footsteps as well. Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad (plus one day)!
Yesterday we made the drive down to Huntington Beach to meet up with Stacy and Tim at the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament. Stacy hooked us up some VIP tickets, and we were able to see our very first AVP match from some prime seats!! :) Naturally, Kili's first question while she saw the players on the sand court was "Are they playing baseball?"
Uh...yeah, we need to work on getting her more exposed. However, I'm sure Uncle Keoni, Papa Danny, and Papa Coop don't mind she's got one sport on the brain. lol!!
After Kili got her share of playing in the sand, we headed to Costa Mesa for the most incredible healthy Mexican food I have ever tasted!!! Yummo to the max! Tim certainly knows the spots. (I just can't wait for him to hook me up with some authentic Vietnamese food...hint,hint. ;) )
Anywho....since no one was really up for taking pictures...here are a few shots from our cool section down at the pier. Thanks for inviting us, Tim & Stacy!! It's always such a blessing to spend time with you!!! Love you guys!!
